Bagmati Goat Breeder Farm is located in the Kebalpur V.D.C.ward no.9, Dharke, Dhading District, Bagmati Zone, Nepal.
The farm is in a distance of 25 km from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Different types of Goat like Jamunapari, Barbari Khari, Mudula are available in the farm. It is helping neighboring farmers by making Ajmari types of bock in local boer brought from South Africa for producing high quality kids along with sales and distribution to other districts.
Farm had already started cross breeding since 2004 AD and now is legally registered with industry in 2007 AD.
Temperature at Dharke varies from 5 degrees in winter to 35 degrees in summer. The farm has total capacity of 300 goats to be kept for one year. Currently, there are 140 goats including kids and bocks.
Vaccine like P.P.R is given before the bucks are allowed insid the farm. Powder/Flour and anti-germs are used regularly in the entire shed for disinfection.
Continuing our present commitment and work, we are planning to open a Cheese Factory by producing Goat that gives more milk.
1. To raise the kids (bucks) of different types of goats and to supply in the neighboring districts
2. To supply the goat meat so as to fulfill its demand in urban areas like Kathmandu and Pokhara
3. To produce dairy goats in aim to establish the cheese factory from goat milk
In Nepal there is low producing type of Goat that gives less milk. This farm is planning to import high yielding dairy Goats from the countries like France, Switzerland, etc.
In Nepal, more than 80% people include goat meat in their meal. Besides that, they are also used during festival for various purposes including offerings. Every year more than 500 thousand goats are imported from India and china. The price of Goat meat is increasing day by day making this business a profit-oriented one here in Nepal.

Mr. Buddhi Man Shrestha is the retired Senior Livestock Development officer from Nepal. He has 35 years of work experience with Nepal Government. Mr. Shrestha, specializes in Artificial Insemination (AI) for cattle/buffalo including goat.
Bagmati Goat Breeders Farm is getting technical advice and supervision along with overall management backdrop of the Farm. He has visited Japan, France, Korea and Thailand in different job-related programs.
This farm is planning to use techniques in AI from Mr. Buddhi Man Shrestha – especially for goat with imported frozen semen from abroad.
THIS IS THE ONLY GOAT Farm raising large number of goats in Nepal as a Farm level – other than government farms. This farm is near by Kathmandu and takes just one hour driving by car.
